SUMMARY:Nordic Early Colorectal Cancer Meeting (NERC)
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome you to the traditional Solstrand meeting\, hosted in the beautiful surroundings of the historic Solstrand Hotel\, just outside Bergen\, Norway. \nThe Nordic Early Rectal Cancer (NERC) meeting was first established in 2006 as TEM Scandinavia\, a dedicated bi-annual forum focused on the multidisciplinary management of early rectal cancer. From its inception\, NERC has been a unique platform for gathering leading experts from surgery\, radiology\, pathology\, oncology\, and interventional endoscopy to foster collaboration\, innovation\, and in-depth discussions in early cancer care. \nAfter the most recent meeting in 2018\, the planned 2020 edition was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then\, the field of early colorectal cancer has seen significant advancements. The implementation of screening programs has led to an increase in the detection of early-stage colorectal cancers\, while progress in diagnostics and organ-preserving strategies continues to reshape treatment options. With the introduction of techniques such as endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and full-thickness resection\, local excision is now a viable option for early-stage colon cancer as well. \nRecognizing these developments\, we are proud to announce the revival of NERC\, now with an expanded scope to include both early colon and rectal cancer. Today\, interventional endoscopists play a central role in the treatment of early cancers\, alongside surgeons\, oncologists\, radiologists\, and pathologists. NERC continues to emphasize a multidisciplinary approach\, focusing on individualized\, evidence-based\, and organ-preserving treatment strategies while building on its strong legacy. \nNERC is renowned for its high-quality\, interactive scientific program and open discussions in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The Solstrand Hotel\, one of Norway’s oldest family-run hotels\, provides the perfect setting for meaningful dialogue\, networking\, and collaboration. \nWe are confident that this year’s program both honors the rich tradition of NERC and reflects the future direction of early colorectal cancer management. \nJoin us for an inspiring meeting and a unique experience in the heart of Norway!

SUMMARY:21st European Congress of Trauma and Emergency Surgery
DESCRIPTION:Dear colleagues\, dear friends\, \nThe European Congress of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ECTES) 2020 was to take place in Oslo\, on April 26-28\, and we had finalised a great programme for what was going to be the most multidisciplinary ECTES to date. Like similar congresses all over the world\, the Corona virus outbreak sadly forced us to postpone the Oslo meeting to 2021. However\, the pandemic resulted in ECTES 2021 being run as a successful virtual meeting that was well attended. \nFor 2022\, ESTES is delighted to announce that we are again planning a complete physical congress and we hope to see you at the 21st ECTES from April 24-26\, 2022 in Oslo\, Norway. \nESTES is focusing on the critically ill and injured surgical patients\, with ECTES as the arena bringing personnel groups together in a multidisciplinary environment to improve\, optimise\, inspire\, recruit\, and provide possibility for networking and learning from each other. Similar to previous editions of our congress\, the ECTES will retain its international character in 2022 by hosting over 40 sessions with numerous speakers from all over the world. The ESTES is looking forward to offering a platform to experts in all areas of trauma and emergency surgery. We will host a number of guest symposia including several international scientific societies like IATSIC\, DGU\, ATLS\, ATCN and AO Trauma. \nWe are lucky to work in a field that is both diverse and dynamic. Within the last decades\, many different innovations and improved treatment strategies have been implemented for the benefit of our patients. Our five sections\, Emergency Surgery\, Disaster & Military Surgery\, Skeletal Trauma and Sports Medicine\, Visceral Trauma and Polytrauma\, as well as the Permanent Education Committee are preparing an exciting and interdisciplinary programme. \nOslo is a city on the rise and a capital world-famous for peace politics\, where people with diverse backgrounds exchange ideas and develop modern solutions. Oslo can present pioneering architecture and is surrounded by beautiful nature and sporting.
